“SJW Architects were a dream to work with. As we are based in Dubai, we needed someone to project manage the refurbishment of our first ever home, to ensure that it kept the aspects and feel that we love, whilst bringing it up to date with how we live 25 years on.

The project ran from May to Dec 2018. It involved re-configuring an existing loft space, extending the kitchen space and installing a new kitchen, new bathrooms and reworking all the bedrooms to accommodate built in wardrobes. The garden was also completely reworked.

Susi and her team were meticulous in every detail; starting with the planning process, concept design, detail design through to contractor management. Finding us best value within our budget, quick to react when our ideas were not aligned and accommodating of our busy schedules. “We hired Susi at SJW Architects to design and oversee the construction of a small but important extension to our house. We were looking for an architect who could come up with imaginative and interesting ways to develop the small space we had to provide us with the facilities we required whilst also lightening up the kitchen.

Susi provided some initial design concepts to help us decide on a direction, and then with our feedback, the design was iterated to the point when we could go out to contract with a building company. The design quality was great with an incredible amount of information. The tendering process was handled by Susi and she was able to guide us to a decision on which builders we would work with.

It would be fair to say that Susi went above and beyond our expectations during the build process, providing re-assurance, guidance and advice when required. When problems occurred, as they do with any build, she was able to get the right people together to solve the problem in a professional manner. We were able to trust her completely. All in all, we now have a fantastic little extension, which provides so much light in to our previously dark kitchen, with a modern design which fits in well with the rest of the house.
